Symone Knox (b. 1998 — Kingston, NY) is a conceptual artist & documentary photographer based in the Hudson Valley. Her work, often centered around Blackness, is deeply connected to history & her identity as a Black female artist. Utilizing book formats as a tool for visual storytelling, Symone’s work also centers narratives surrounding memory, loss, family, and trauma.
Her work has been exhibited both in the United States and abroad, including the Wilgus Gallery in Baltimore, MD, Smack Mellon in Brooklyn, NY, and The Center for Photographers of Color in Fayetteville, AR.
Symone graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2021, where she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Photography.
